Hesperia is a city known for its desert climates and affordable housing rates for the Inland Empire, but some people might not know it is the part of the region where crime rate is high. Some parts of Hesperia are more known to be peaceful, while others deal with these high crime rates. From the years of 2019 to 2023, different crimes such as burglary, property, and violent crimes were all accounted for. Every year, drastic differences in each category happen with decreases in overall crime rate.
The crime rate in the town of Hesperia is different every year, but what are the exact numbers? These numbers affect the lives of people in different ways, these crimes affect people’s friends, partners, and families in ways that are unimaginable.
The following crimes impact people the most in the city of Hesperia compared to others that do not carry as much severity.
For example, in 2022, violent crimes were the highest they had been in those last five years and in the crime categories altogether for that year. Out of the 533,000 people that live in the High Desert, 100,000 residents of Hesperia were affected by approximately 609 violent crimes. Violent crimes are considered, acts of murder, rape, assualt, kiddnapping, etc. This is the total of those acts. Whether or not people consider this number large, it is still the lives of people who have been at stake or at risk.
The crime rates in 2023 were relatively low in the categories of burglary, property crime, and violent crimes. This is an improvement compared to the previous year. Property crimes were only at 96 for over 100,000 residents in Hesperia while in 2022 they were at 147. Improvement was made by 65.3%.
What does all of this data mean? Well, locals had their own take on this frightening topic.
A survey done by the website, Areavibes.com, shared the results of a survey they conducted amongst 46 residents in Hesperia.
“Based on the results of the surveys (46 responses), 41% of people felt that there was very little crime in Hesperia and felt safe walking alone at night. While 59% of people felt that it was not a safe place to live and did not feel safe walking alone at night.” shares analysts of Areavibes.
The majority of residents do not feel safe living in this city due to all of these crimes. It seems as if that is the majority of news reported for this city so it would be likely for people to feel this way.
The Victor Valley News Group predominantly shares updates about the many crimes that go on in the city such as murder investigations, shootings, theft, etc.
Just recently, The Victor Valley News Group shared a story about a shooting that occurred at a party on April 12, 2025.
“When deputies arrived, they learned that two male subjects had been involved in a fight during the party, and one of them fired multiple rounds. No injuries were reported, and the suspect was not located.” reports The Victor Valley News Group.
Due to the subject not being caught, the probability of a violent crime such as this one is high.
Residents may fear the city they live in and are unsure of what to do, but progress has been made. The city’s police department remains vigilant for different suspects and prioritizes crime rates within the city.
Some justice has been brought to this town through arrests made in the past. In 2021 alone, over 1,195 arrests were made in total. This total includes the people of interest in all crime for that year. No matter the scale, justice was brought to this city in one way or another.
Despite the beauty that Hesperia has to offer, crime rates are not something that can be easily ignored by current and prospective residents. However, the crime rates are decreasing each year and residents can know that justice is being taken to make these necessary arrests. The small town of Hesperia is a city that deserves safety and justice for its residents.
